Qualification and Credits Framework
Skills for Care have published a range of dementia qualifications in September as part of the Qualification and Credits Framework (QCF). Specific dementia qualifications have been developed at level 2 and 3 for continuing professional development (CPD).
The following dementia qualifications are available from September:
- units for level 2 award in awareness of dementia
- units for level 2 certificate in dementia care
- units for level 3 award in awareness of dementia
- units for level 3 certificate in dementia care
The South West Dementia Partnership is working closely with Skills for Care with a view to promoting the dementia training pathway and helping providers to understand the best way of accessing good quality training. Jackie Pool was commissioned by Skills for Care and wrote the dementia units for the QCF. She has written guidance to the dementia units from a training providers point of view. This is particualrly useful for care providers.
