The role of commissioners in the workforce planning process
The role of commissioners is to question, challenge, assure and fully understand the workforce implications of the service plans they are presented with, to ensure that they are in line with the needs of people using services and the outcomes to be achieved. Built into this role must be a process for reviewing the progress and delivery of the provider’s workforce plan.
This guide is intended to support commissioners by providing useful information and key questions to help them have an informed dialogue with provider organisations and understand workforce planning and development issues that may impact staff working with people with dementia and their carers and families.
