Two hundred GPs, health and social care staff, and volunteers working in the primary care community attended an engaging conference in Exeter to explore how primary care can make a difference to the lives of people living with dementia.
The event opened with a series of short plenary presentations, including a video broadcast from Sir Ian Carruthers OBE, Chief Executive, NHS South of England, which you can watch below.
The interactive event enabled lively debate and discussion about the issues surrounding managing dementia for the primary care community. Following the plenary the delegates were invited to attend masterclasses covering topics from managing the diagnosis to end of life care.
Together with local South West based experts in the field, the masterclasses were facilitated by other guest speakers who have demonstrated innovation and a desire to create positive change in dementia care. The event concluded with a panel discussion to explore the learning that can be taken forward.
