Leading for improvement programme

The Primary Care response to dementia: leading for improvement - a free programme to support you to take forward the primary and community care response to dementiaThe Leading for improvement programme supported primary and community care practitioners to develop improved team working, coaching, mentoring, and support with stakeholder engagement.

Alongside this local support a five day core programme was developed, specifically exploring those aspects of the development of local leadership capacity that is likely to be of relevance to all localities.

The programme helped people to:

  • Develop local leadership capacity to deliver change
  • Design and deliver improved dementia services
  • Apply new thinking to current work challenges
  • Stay in touch with the lived experience of people with dementia and the people that support them
  • Involve the right people and organisations, and developing the right partnerships to achieve results
  • Evaluate the impact of the improvements
  • Connect and share with peers
  • Build resilience by learning from when times are hard?

The core programme included:

  • DAY ONE: Developing your leadership to increase local capacity for improvement
  • DAY TWO: Achieving influence through designing, developing and maintaining effective teams and networks
  • DAY THREE: Working from strengths within your local systems
  • DAY FOUR: New thinking on service redesign
  • DAY FIVE: Developing resilience and flourishing over the long term
