This page provides access to a set of frequently asked questions about the Calculator.

How do I register if I am not a GP or CCG member?

It is not necessary to register to use the tool as it is ‘open access’.

However, General Practices and CCGs have the option of registering for an enhanced level of access which will offer them the following functions:

  • to revise/amend the number of patients in local care homes (GPs only)
  • to revise QOF DEM1 figures – dementia diagnosis numbers; these figures will be updated on the Ambition Map (GPs only)
  • to revise their ambition for improving their diagnosis rate, year on year; thse figures will be updated on the Ambition Map (GPs and CCGs).

Where is my activation email?

You should receive your activation email within a few hours of registering. Please remember to check you ‘Junk / ‘Spam’ mail folders.

If you do not receive your activation email please send your registration details to [email protected]  and we will resend your activation email.

Please note that there were some problems in sending out activation emails to the first cohort of users who registered. We are working on this now and expect to have this resolved by 28/05/13.

How can I improve the speed of Calculator as the pages seem slow to load?

It is recognised that some NHS networks may slow the performance of the Dementia Prevalence Calculator, i.e. when accessing the tool via an NHS tablet, laptop or desktop PC. Better performance will be achieved by using an independent network or Internet gateway to access the Dementia Prevalence Calculator at www.dementiaprevalencecalculator.org.uk.
