The ‘Remember the person’ awareness campaign encourages people to look beyond dementia and understand that everyone living with dementia is still an individual. Remember the person was the theme of Dementia Awareness Week in 2010 and 2011.
The Alzheimer’s Society has produced a ‘Remember the person’ leaflet which has ideas on how to befriend and support people living with dementia and their families. The national dementia awareness campaign forms part of measures to implement Objective 1 of the National Dementia Strategy: improved public and professional awareness and understanding of dementia.
The campaign ran from 01 to 05 March in 2011. The campaign, run in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society, sought to address poor public understanding of dementia.
Adverts featuring people with dementia appeared across television, radio, press and online. You can watch the TV advert below.
