I would like to introduce you to The Reader Organisation’s evidence-based projects for those living with dementia, and their carers -in clinic and at home. Nationally we have a range of residential projects and a completed BUPA pilot of 8 care homes – report available on request. I have registered my details to enable me to login and use the tools on the dementia prevelance calculatir. It says i would recieve an activiation email, but as yet i have not recieved this and on trying to login it says my account is not activated?

Such a straight forward yet excellent service. The purposeful activity volunteers give the thing that people with dementia in inpatient settings often need the most: time. What’s really good about the PAVs involvement is they have an opportunity to build the personalised care and support document ( ‘All About Me’) with the person, and to document their interaction on feedback sheets. This all feeds in to the clinical work of the health and social care staff, helping them delivder the right care and support, int he right way and at the right time. Excellent!!

Much to absorb and consider for local commissioning. Working on a housing related project for people with dementia.
Just wondering if there is any intention of updating or reviewing the 2007 prevalence rate figures or if you are still happy with that report’s findings.
Also can the data be aggregated up to county level for two tier authorities.

I live in Farnham and was a lecturer in dementia care at Surrey University. I am now developing dementia friendly churches with a national social care organisation. A similar system can be created for use at home using a commercially available Digital Photo Frame.

At last….

I have witnessed horrific end of life care on the liverpool pathway. I have been asking for a review of this for a long time, especially in hospitals where older people with dementia are left to die in an undignified and shameful way.
